A bit about me and how I work
I am a warm, compassionate and empathic therapist based in South London but working online. I work with my clients in a collaborative, respectful and non-judgmental way. I believe passionately in the benefits of therapy and the difference it can make to our lives.
My journey to becoming a therapist was shaped by my experience working in journalism and photojournalism having spent many years working in newsrooms, covering some of the most iconic news stories of our time. Working with photographers and editors I came to appreciate the mental toll that witnessing challenging imagery can take on your mental health, I know it did mine. I faced burnout, I became disassociated to the often visually challenging imagery of my work and began to realise the stress my job was putting my mind and body under. I left the industry and after taking time out, decided to retrain as a therapist. I have used my lived experience to explore the toll that challenging workplace experiences can place on our emotional stability and mental wellbeing.
Working as an integrative therapist means that I use my knowledge to draw on a number of therapeutic theories and apply them to our work, ensuring that you feel fully supported throughout the therapeutic journey. I am naturally drawn towards a person-centred approach - putting you front and centre to the work and establishing a respectful and trusting relationship, creating a safe and non-judgmental environment for you.
My work supports people navigating a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges, including:
Anxiety and depression
Workplace burnout
Career stress
Low self-esteem and self-doubt
Relationship difficulties
Family dynamics
Childhood trauma
Low mood and changed behaviours
Perimenopause, menopause and post menopause
Chronic pain and illness
Visual impairment and blindness
Young adults (16+)
I have worked with the RNIB (Royal National Institute of Blind People) and am experienced in counselling those living with sight loss and visual impairment. I can offer time limited or open ended therapy to a broad range of clients, many of whom have suffered varying degrees of sigh loss due to chronic illness or traumatic life event. I give the space and support to explore the challenges, the emotional upheaval and to navigate the impact it makes on their lives.
I also work with the BRIT School, the UK’s leading Performing and Creative Arts School based in South London, offering time limited therapy to young people who are navigating the often challenging and bewildering transition into adulthood. Offering a safe environment and an opportunity to explore whatever is going on for them, allowing them to feel heard and understood has been deeply rewarding and it’s a privilege that my clients feel comfortable enough within our relationship to share their worries and concerns with me. At this crossroads in life, many young people can feel anxious and overwhelmed and my approach to our work - calm, empathic, kind is always at the heart of my therapeutic approach.
If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, you’re dealing with problematic behaviours or you’re just curious about yourself, I can help you begin to build awareness and a better understanding of yourself in a empathic and confidential space. This is your therapy. We go at your pace. We explore what you want to bring when you wish to bring it. We create an environment where you feel able and safe enough to share and explore your concerns.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). This is the UK’s leading governing body for counselling professionals and ensures that my work with clients is safe, ethical and meets the highest standards of professionalism. Your safety, trust and confidentiality are paramount throughout the therapeutic process.
I hold enhanced DBS clearance and professional liability insurance, this ensures the highest standards of care and protection for my clients.
